GDPR can be considered be transformative for individual's rights and control over their personal data.

This is because it permitted individuals to better control their data regardless of where it has been sent, stored, or processed.

This has meant that businesses are obliged to notify individuals as to when their information has been hacked and when there have been any data breaches. Furthermore, these breaches in security mean businesses must report it to the national supervisory authority.

Additionally, GDPR enables individuals to erase their personal data as they have the “right to be forgotten”. This means that one must erase any data they hold on that individual.
